Born in Poland, Daniel came to London with his brothers Abraham (a tailor), Wolf (draper), Solomon (jeweller) and sister Sophia. The brothers all prospered and soon moved from the East End to Westminster.
Daniel married Ester Phillips. They had had a son Solomon (1792-1843) and two daughters, Ester (1789-1857) and Sophia all of whom lived in London. Daniel was a Silversmith and Curiosity dealer, and lived and worked from premises at 14 Hanway Street - close to the present Tottenham Court Rd underground station. His son took over the business when he retired.
Daniel and his brother Abraham were both active members of the congregation of the Western Synagogue, London. Daniel is listed as one of the five directors of the Synagogue Committee in 1833, together with Lewis Durlacher whose mother Betsy died in Bath in 1818 and is buried in a now unmarked grave.
In the 1841 census Daniel is recorded as living in London with his son Solomon and his family.
Daniel died 'of Inflammation of the chest' in Bath on 21 January in 1842. His address at death was 20 Bathwick Street, the house of his brother Abraham.
