Morris (Maurice/Morice) Abrahams was born in Poland between 1799 and 1806. It is not known when Morris came to England. He married a Christian, Louisa, born around 1811 in Trowbridge. Their first daughter Maria was born in 1829 in Warminster. They had two more daughters and five sons. Morris was a Jeweller but in later years worked as a draper.

The family lived in Wiltshire moving from Bishop Cannings to Great Cheverell and then Bromham and Calne.

Morris died of prostate disease in July 1877 in Bath. Their eldest daughter, Lavinia, is recorded in the 1851 census as a barmaid in the Bell Inn in Fugglestone St Peter, Wilts. Two of her brothers and one of her sisters are living with her. Lavinia went on to become a hotel keeper in Derbyshire.

One of her brothers, Aaron, remained in Wiltshire and trained greyhounds. Louisa, Morris’s wife, died in 1897 in Derbyshire where she had gone to live with one of her daughters.
